Branna Sundy's Poetry
Laughter
Sparkling dewdrops,
Hearty guffaws,
Shimmering bells,
Cackling caws.
High, breathy giggles,
Pure, playful grin,
Small, snorting chuckles,
Light, joyful spin.
All voices are different,
No laughs are the same,
From windy to earth-shaking,
From bubbles to flames.
From rumbling to gentle,
Cascading to bright,
Similar as twins
Or opposed as day and night.
The Perfect World
Imagine a place where thinkers can dream,
Where your heart is as light as a feather.
In everyone’s eyes, there’s a clever gleam
No one’s lost, ‘cause you work well together.
Or think of where all are noble and true,
Taking risks that are daring and bold.
You feel like there’s nothing you cannot do,
Your courage keeps you warm in the cold.
Or hope for a world with goodness and light,
Where everyone’s gentle, friendly, and kind.
Everyone tries to do what is right,
Wherever you turn, there’s a friend to find.
But these worlds exist in the one you know,
You must be yourself for those worlds to show.
The Ocean
The roaring sound of the sea,
Why does it so entice me?
To dance on the beach in the sand,
To watch it flow past my hand.
The rushing, wild waves
Bring many sailors to their graves.
The oceans may be named,
But they cannot be tamed.
The roaring crash of the sea,
Why does it so entice me?
In Your Element
Rushing and dancing, leaping and glowing;
Fierce and burning or sweeping and flowing.
Stubborn and warm, changing and sighing;
Stolid, unmoving, or lifting and flying.
A raging fire starts with one tiny spark
Destroying, reviving, and leaving its mark.
Cool and playful or rough, pounding waves;
Dangerous to cross, but life’s what it saves.
As soil or stone, earth constantly shifts;
Though steady, rocks push to make mountains and rifts.
Silent one moment, howling the next;
Changing so swiftly, it leaves us perplexed.
The elements, fire, wind, earth, and sea,
Will be there, always and eternally.
Joy or fear, they can all make you feel
In awe of their power, so glorious and real.
